Mancunian tenor Lawrence Thackeray graduated from the Opera Course at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 2015 after having originally trained in acting at The University of Salford before studying Musical Theatre for a year at The Royal Academy of Music. He then made the change to Opera in 2010 and studied classical singing at The D.I.T Conservatory of Music in Dublin before moving to London in 2013.

Lawrence’s Operatic career has seen him performing the roles of Rodolfo (La Bohème), Alfredo (La Traviata), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Peter Quint (The Turn of the Screw), Ruggero (La Rondine), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Don Jose (Carmen), Fox (The Cunning Little Vixen), Gonsalve (L’heure Espagnole), Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus), Beppe (Pagliacci), Guido Bardi (Eine florentinische Tragödie), Mr. Rushworth (Mansfield Park) and Don Basillio (Le Nozze di Figaro) amongst others.

Opera, Garsington Opera, Beijing International Music Festival, Grange Park Opera, West Green House Opera, Waterperry Opera Festival, Pavillion Opera, Silent Opera, Opera Ireland, Bergen National Opera Norway, Opera Theatre Company, Lyric Opera Productions, Clonter Opera and The Merry Opera Company.

Concert performances have seen Lawrence perform as a soloist at The Barbican Hall, LSO St

Luke’s, The National Concert Hall in Dublin, Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, St James’ Cathedral, Toronto, Al Bustan Festival in Beirut, St James’ Piccadilly, Colston Hall in Bristol, The Savoy Hotel, The Ritz and aboard Swan Hellenic’s Minerva.

Lawrence was a finalist in the inaugural Mastersinger’s young Wagnerian singers competition in January 2022.

Away from the stage Lawrence enjoys his Kamado BBQ Oven, Manchester United, real ale and, above all, chasing after his three year old son Ted.
