A graduate and Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, British dramatic soprano Elaine McKrill has specialized in recent years in the operas of Wagner and Strauss. Career highlights include her performances as Brünnhilde in the complete Der Ring des Nibelungen in Chemnitz, Isolde (Tristan und Isolde) in Angers, Dijon and Genoa, Ortlinde in the Ring Cycles of the Aix-en-Provence and Salzburg Festivals with Simon Rattle and with Antonio Pappano at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden.  Elaine’s ongoing relationship with Die Walküre has so far taken her to Chemnitz, Stockholm, Hong Kong, Adelaide, London, Edinburgh, Aix, Valencia, Glasgow, Toronto, Salzburg, Manchester, Dallas, Leicester, Amsterdam, Longborough and Berlin.

Other Wagner roles include Sieglinde, Gerhilde and Helmwige (Die Walküre), Gutrune, 2nd Norn and 3rd Norn (Götterdämmerung), Freia (Das Rheingold), Ortrud (Lohengrin) and Adriano (Rienzi).

Elaine won critical acclaim for her Magdeburg performances as Strauss’s Elektra, a role she also sang in concert in Edinburgh and covered at the Royal Opera House and in Amsterdam –  “a brilliant vocal and interpretive shaping of this role”, “quite astonishing”, “phenomenally intense”.  Her other Strauss roles include Die Feldmarschallin (Der Rosenkavalier) in Edinburgh and Marianne Leitmetzerin (Der Rosenkavalier) at the Royal Opera House and with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestar and also Die Aufseherin (Elektra) at the Royal Opera House and in Amsterdam.

Previously for Saffron Opera Group Elaine has sung Brünnhilde in their hugely successful 2016-17 Ring Cycle.
