Victoria Simmonds started her career as a Jerwood Young Artist at English National Opera and has since performed all over the world, specialising in Rossini, Mozart and contemporary repertoire. She made her Royal Opera House debut in 2012 in George Benjamin’s multi-award-winning opera, Written on Skin. Other world premieres she has been involved with include the title role in Jonathan Dove/Alastair Middleton’s Adventures of Pinocchio for Opera North, Boy in The Way Back Home by Joanna Lee/Rory Mullarkey for English National Opera, Anna in Silver Birch by Roxanna Panufnik/Jessica Duchen for Garsington Opera, and White Flame, a song cycle for voice and piano quintet by David Matthews/Muriel Spark performed by Nash Ensemble at the Purcell Room.

She has also sung for Grange Park Opera, Garsington Opera, Opera Holland Park and the Buxton Festival and sang the title role of Carmen at the Royal Albert Hall.  Abroad she has sung with the Netherlands Opera, Stuttgart and Hallé Opera companies and Wellgunde (Das Rheingold) with the Berlin Philharmonic under Sir Simon Rattle at the Aix Festival.  In concert, she has sung in Le Comte Ory and the title role of L’Enfant et les Sortilèges at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam and has worked with the Philharmonia and Hallé Orchestras, at the Salzburg and Edinburgh Festivals and for the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Colin Davis at the BBC Proms.

Recent engagements include Minsk Woman (Flight) for Scottish Opera, Meg Page (Falstaff) for Garsington Opera and two tours with Written on Skin: to China for the Beijing Festival, and to Hamburg and Berlin with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Previously for Saffron Opera Group Victoria has sung Wellgunde in both Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung.
